A hitherto novel concept in India of Bamp;B accommodation is fast catching on in Delhi.
Delhi hotels and Delhi guest houses are just way too small in number to fulfill the growing demand for rooms in the city. With an eye on the 2010 Commonwealth Games the state govt. and the national tourism board are pushing this scheme. At last count close to 400 households had already registered for this scheme. Many tourists will enjoy staying in such accommodations as itll give them an opportunity to experience the Indian way of life from close quarters. The one thing that govt. agencies sanctioning these homes as Bamp;B should bear in mind is that quality parameters cleanliness amenities transport connectivity service should be complied with strictly. If standards are set high at the very outset tourists will go back satisfied and spread the word. Nothing works better than word of mouth. A sample of the negative Delhi hotel reviews will drive home the point in no uncertain way. This new concept should be set on course at the very outset. The potential of this scheme is borne out by the fact that publishers websites and other media are working towards editions and databases around this theme. These accommodations have attained special status in the UK and are very popular across much of Europe. About time India got onto the Bamp;B bandwagon.
In a small measure this concept has been popular in the southern hill districts of Coorg Karnataka and Wayanad Kerala. Both these regions have coffee and tea plantations respectively. Town sizes are small with few hotels. And tourists have taken to the idea of living in Bamp;B accommodations and experiencing life on the estates up close.
