Holiday Breaks in Lanzarote
Seeking to escape to sun this winter? As the temperatures continue to hover around freezing point in Northern Europe many peoples thoughts turn to booking a holiday abroad. And Lanzarote in the Canary Islands offers loads for visitors to do and see. Along with very high standards of accommodation.
Lanzarote is Spanish owned but located off the coast of West Africa. And as a result basks in warm sunshine all year round – even during winter. As a result the island is a popular as both a winter and summer holiday destination. Attracting most of its visitors from countries such as Eire, the UK and Germany. Along with plenty of visitors from mainland Spain too.
The flight time to Lanzarote is just four hours from the UK and cheap flights can be found with all of the usual budget airlines. Arrivals land at Arrecife before making their way onto their accommodation.
As the internet has become more popular so more and more people have started to book their own holidays direct online. Cutting travel agents out of the equation altogether.
This has also lead to an increase in demand for privately owned rental properties and as a result Lanzarote holiday villas and apartments have grown in popularity. With just as many visitors staying in self catering accommodation as they do in hotels.
Of the three main holiday resorts on the island Puerto del Carmen offers the best value for money when it comes to booking accommodation. As this is the largest resort on Lanzarote with the widest range of choice. Holiday villas in Puerto del Camen can be booked from around €350 per week and apartments for even less than that.
There’s plenty for visitors to do and see as well. Such as the awe inspiring volcanic region – home to hundreds of volcanoes (all now fortunately dormant) and twisted fields of lava. Whilst beach lovers will find themselves in paradise as there are over 90 great stretches of sand arrayed along the islands coastline. Head for Famara in the north to view the most impressive of these playas.
The island is also home to an abundance of little villages and towns which are all well worth exploring. Some, such as the old island capital of Teguise are home to a surprisingly large amount of historic colonial architecture. Whilst others such as Yaiza are simply very picturesque.
